Ingredients for Blueberry Jalapeno Bourbon BBQ Sauce
- 6 cups Blueberries: Pureed
- 1 red Bell Pepper
- 1 Onion
- 4 Jalapeno Peppers: Use preferred amount for desired spice level
- 3/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 tsp Dry Mustard
- 1 Tbsp Canning Salt
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1/8 cup Bourbon
- 2 tsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 Cup Honey
Detailed Steps to Make the Blueberry Jalapeno Bourbon BBQ Sauce
First rinse the blueberries.

Finely puree the blueberries, onions and peppers in a food processor. You can also chop the ingredients up and use an immersion blender. If you touch the inside of the hot peppers, wear gloves. This jalapeno corer works great! Add all of the chopped ingredients to a large pot.
Add these and remaining ingredients to a large pot.
Heat over medium-high heat to a slight boil and then let simmer for at least 30 minutes on medium low heat to allow the flavors to develop into a delicious sauce.

Ladle the hot blueberry jalapeno bourbon BBQ sauce into canning jars using a canning funnel. Leave a 1/4 inch headspace.

Wipe the rim of the jar with a damp rag, remove the air bubbles and add the lids. Add the canning jars to the boiling water bath and process jars at a hard boil for 15 minutes. I use the Ball electric water bath canner and love it.
Remove the hot jars from the hot water bath after the processing time with a jar lifter and place jars on a kitchen towel on the counter. Do not disturb for 24 hours.

Enjoy!

This was really good! Hubby and I both enjoyed it. I brushed the sauce on air fried chicken. I took the seeds out of two of the jalapenos so it wouldn’t be too hot for hubby. It had no kick at all so next time I will leave the seeds in. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for the great comment! I am so glad you all enjoyed it!
I made this just as the recipe stated. I found it a bit tart.
Maybe my blueberries weren’t sweet enough, but I added a large cup of brown sugar. That seemed to do the trick. The flavor was really good and this was very easy to make! i put everything in my food processor to start then after it was in the pot, I hit it with the immersion lender and that really helped with the consistency. I’m looking forward to trying this on some chicken or pork! Thanks!!
Thank you so much for the comment. I am glad you liked the recipe. Using an immersion blender is a great idea!
