Colorful and Easy Easter Bundt Cake

I am all about simple recipes and this one meets that criteria.

The recipe calls for making a white cake mix with the box instructions, divide it into 3 bowls, add different colors to each bowl, layer in the Bundt pan, and bake! That easy! Plus use canned frosting, do the same with the colors and add sprinkles.

It turns out looking great, inside and out, with not too much effort.

Ingredients for Colorful Easter Bundt Cake

  • White Cake Mix
  • Eggs
  • Water
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Frosting
  • Food Coloring
  • Sprinkles

Detailed Steps to Make the Colorful and Easy Easter Bundt Cake Recipe

The first step is to preheat the oven to the required temperature on the cake mix box. Then make the white cake mix as directed on the box. The cake mix I used (Duncan Hines, Perfectly Moist) required the cake mix, 3 egg whites, 1 cup water and 1/2 cup vegetable oil.

Divide the mix into 3 bowls. I found each bowl took about 1 cup each.

Use food coloring to add color to each of the bowls to make the desired color. For Easter, there is a larger choice of colors including pink, yellow, light green, light blue, and light purple. I chose blue, green and pink for the cake colors.

Layer each color into a greased Bundt pan. They will naturally layer on top of one another. Do not mix the batter.

Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box. The cake mix I used required 325 degrees and the Bundt cake required 36 to 41 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick and making sure it comes out clean.

Let the cake cool, then turn out onto a plate. Let the cake cool completely before starting to add icing.

Divide the can of white frosting into 3 or more bowls, then add food coloring to make the desired colors. I used yellow, pink, green and blue.

Bowls of colored icing to make Easter cake

Heat each bowl of frosting for 5-10 seconds until frosting is thin and falls off a spoon. Take a spoon and drizzle one colored frosting over top of cake with a back and forth motion, letting the icing fall over the sides of the cake.

Pictures below show after first couple layers of icing are added to the Easter cake.

Alternate between colors to get desired look. I added more icing and then sprinkles.
