Easiest Slow Cooker Caramel Sauce
Making this crockpot caramel sauce with sweetened condensed milk is so easy and turns out so creamy and delicious! It only takes one ingredient and several hours in the crock pot.
This type of caramel is also called dulce de leche. It is a creamy caramel, thicker than caramel sauce, but not as hard as caramel candy, somewhere in between. It is amazing!
Made right in the can in the slow cooker! Couldn’t be easier!
Also see my recipe for making the same recipe but in jars.

It really takes no effort and results in creamy caramel goodness, almost like pudding. You can eat it by the spoonful! Delicious with your morning coffee.
Other ways beside with your coffee to use this delicious caramel include with pies, brownies, waffles, pancakes, ice cream, cheesecake, yogurt, oatmeal, and as fillings in cupcakes and crepes.
As a fruit dip is a favorite way to use the creamy caramel.

Sprinkle a little sea salt on top and you’ve died and gone to heaven.
As stated, the only ingredient needed is sweetened condensed milk.

Steps for Making Easiest Slow Cooker Caramel Sauce
First, remove the labels from the can(s).

Place the can(s) of unopened sweetened condensed milk into a slow cooker and fill the slow cooker until the cans are completely submerged in the water.

Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Cooking for 8 hours generally yields a lighter, smoother and more pourable caramel sauce, while 10 hours tends to yield a much darker, thicker and richer caramel.
You may need to refill the water if it gets too low.
Allow the cans or jars of caramel sauce to cool on the counter until they reach room temperature before opening.
After cooking, the unopened cans can be stored at room temperature. After opening, store in the refrigerator.
Enjoy!
This slow cooker caramel is hands down the best caramel around. Not only does it taste so amazing it can be eaten straight from the can, but it also has so many uses. It also makes a great gift!
