Ingredients for Homemade Elderberry Syrup Recipe

I usually only make half the recipe with 1 cup syrup and 4 Tbsp gelatin.

How to Make Easy Elderberry Gummy Recip

First, add 2 cups of elderberry syrup to a saucepan on medium low heat. You can see my simple elderberry syrup recipe here.

Heat gently and add unflavored beef gelatin, whisking frequently.

Heat the mixture on medium low until the gelatin is just dissolved, not letting the mixture come to a boil. Boiling will alter the consistency of the gelatin and the gummies may not set properly. Heating too high will also kill the beneficial enzymes in the honey used in the syrup.

Once the mixture is dissolved, use an eyedropper to fill silicone molds.

If you have extra or do not have molds, you can pour it into a flat tray and refrigerate, then cut into gummy cubes.

Transfer the molds to the refrigerator and allow to set for 1-2 hours until firm.

Once gummies are firm, pop them out of the molds and store in an airtight container in the fridge. The gummies can melt in warm temperatures, since all natural ingredients are natural.

Safety Issues

Pregnant and nursing women should avoid elderberry to be on the safe side.

Recommended Dosage

The dosage amount for elderberry isn’t completely straightforward, and it also depends on the size of the gummy molds you’re using.

There are some bigger molds which contain about 5 ml (1 teaspoon). There are also smaller molds which only hold about 1 ml. Look at your specific manufacturer to see how much liquid volume are in your molds.

The molds I used above contain about 1 ml and are great for kids.

The recommended dosage for kids is 3 to 5 small gummies (1 ml each) per day and for larger gummies (5 ml each), 1 per day. For illness, take the dosage 3 times per day.

For adults, double that doseage.

Enjoy!

Enjoy making and using these very easy-to-make elderberry gummies.
