Ingredients for Easy Refrigerator Dill Pickles Recipe
- 1-3 Medium Cucumbers
- 1/2 cup White Vinegar
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 1/2 tsp Canning Salt
- 11/2 tsp Sugar (Optional)
- 2-3 Sprigs Fresh Dill or 1/4 tsp dried dill (option is to use or also add 1 tsp dill seed and dill flower heads)
- Optional: Peppercorns, garlic, red pepper flakes
The ingredients can be double or tripled, etc. as needed. The recipe makes one pint of pickles.
Steps in Preparing Refrigerator Pickles
Cut the cucumbers into thin slices. The cucumbers can also be cut into spears.

Combine water, salt, sugar, and vinegar in a saucepan and bring to a boil on the stove. After it starts boiling, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Add the dill and other seasonings used to the jar.

Add the cucumber slices to the jar and layer dill sprigs and/or dill flowers with the slices. If you do not have fresh dill, adding the dried dill or dill seeds to the bottom of the jar is sufficient.

Get as many cucumbers into the jar without crushing the cucumbers. Add more dill springs or dill flowers if preferred.

Pour the brine liquid over the cucumbers.

Fill to cover the cucumbers. Secure lids on mason jars and refrigerate 24-48 hours before enjoying. (They’ll continue to develop flavor the longer they sit in the brine.) Homemade dill pickles should remain fresh 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator.
