Homemade Cajun Seasoning

Making your own homemade Cajun seasoning is another step towards controlling ingredients in the foods that you eat! This Cajun seasoning beats the store-bought seasoning that has added preservatives and additives. So easy to do with simple spices that you have in your pantry. Plus saves money! Store bought seasonings are expensive!

Cajun seasoning is a Louisiana seasoning that packs a punch when it comes to flavors. The delicious (and mildly spicy) seasoning lends itself to so many wonderful dishes — like pastas, shrimp, chicken, fish, and much, much more.

Cajun seasoning is a blend of spices that create a spicy, earthy, and sometimes smoky flavor.

Store-bought seasonings often include additives, fillers, preservatives, and high levels of sodium. Homemade seasoning lets you skip all that and stick to clean, natural spices that you probably already have in your pantry.

Another benefit of a homemade mix is customization. If you like a deeper flavor, add more smoked paprika, more heat, add more cayenne pepper. You can also adjust the salt level to your taste and dietary needs.

Homemade seasonings also make great gifts!

I dry my own herbs in a dehydrator and then use this coffee grinder to grind the herbs until they are very fine. I have used this process for my oregano, dill, basil, tarragon, thyme, rosemary, and cilantro. So easy and satisfying!
