Rose Petal Health Benefits
This article by WEBMD states that rose petals contain Vitamin C, A and E, plus iron and calcium and that rose petals are high in phytonutrients, plant compounds with antioxidant properties. Research shows that phytochemicals can help stop the formation of cancer cells and protect your body from cancer-like changes. The article states that “Rose petals contain polyphenols, antioxidants that work to protect your body from cell damage. The polyphenols in rose tea have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cognitive diseases.” It also states that “One study found that the anti-inflammatory activity in powdered rose petals is as effective as medicines like aspirin or ibuprofen. Rose tea may also help prevent pain caused by inflammation from physical injury or conditions like arthritis.”
The article also states that the potential health benefits of rose tea made from fresh rose petals or dry rose petals includes help with menstrual pain and stomach issues.
It is amazing what wonderful health benefits that the flowers, weeds and herbs growing in nature can provide for us!
Basic Steps for Making Rose Petal Tea
- Pick the roses
- Remove the petals
- Add 4 cups boiling water to the petals
- Let steep from 30 minutes to 4 hours
- Strain the petals from the tea
- Add the healthy tea to a glass and add ice and enjoy!
- Optional additions: lemon, lemon juice, rose petals, fresh mint leaves, honey, stevia leaves, lemon balm
Detailed Steps for Making Rose Petal Tea
The basic process starts with picking the rose flowers from the rose bush.

Separate the petals from the rose flower and put in a large bowl or quart mason jar. You can use 1 to 4 cups of flowers. I find that the more flowers that you use, the prettier the color of the tea, so I filled the quart jar with fresh petals. The rose infusion can also be made with dried petals.

Add 4 cups of boiling water to the jar.

I add 2 Tablespoon of lemon juice to the tea, to bring the color out.

Let the tea steep for 30 minutes to 4 hours.

Strain the petals from the rose water.

When ready, pour the tea into a glass and add ice. The rose petal tea makes a beautiful refreshing iced tea with a delicate flavor.

Enjoy!
