Recipe for How to Make White Clover Iced Tea

Who doesn’t love a good fresh glass of iced tea? I know it is my favorite thing to drink on a hot day! How about if you could make a glass of delicious iced tea from a common weed flower growing in your yard and not only would it be tasty and refreshing, but it provides a ton of health benefits.

This recipe for how to make white clover iced tea is just that! A recipe for making iced tea in just minutes from flowers you can pick from your yard. And white clover blossoms are usually pretty abundant and last for a while throughout the spring and summer. I have patches of white clover everywhere!

There are different species of clovers including crimson clover blossoms, red clover, and white clover. For this recipe, I used white clover which is very abundant in the early spring and into the summer. It is easy to pick the one cup of white clover flowers that you need for this recipe and there is no having to separate the petals, just cut off the stem! Red clover tea would also be a healthy tea to make or tea from crimson clover blossoms.

White clover (botanical name Trifolium repens) is one of the most important pasture legumes. It is a nutritious food source for all classes of farm animals and most wildlife. White clover originated in Europe and has become one of the most widely distributed legumes in the world and is also good for soil improvement as a cover crop and erosion control.

It’s also good for medicinal uses for treating cold symptoms, such as congestion and headaches. Drink a cup of tea to help relieve coughs and colds. It can be used to treat joint aches and pains and has anti-inflammatory properties. White clover herbal tea could treat rheumatic aches and joint pain too. The leaves can be applied as a poultice to heal wounds and burns.

  • Pick the white clover flowers
  • Remove the stems from the flowers
  • Add 4 cups boiling water to the flowers
  • Let steep from 30 minutes to 4 hours
  • Strain the flowers from the tea
  • Add the healthy tea to a glass and add ice and enjoy!
  • Optional additions: lemon, lemon juice, fresh mint leaves, honey, stevia leaves, lemon balm

The basic process starts with picking the white clover flowers from a place that has not been sprayed with any chemicals. Remove the stems from the flower heads. This recipe only used one cup of clover blossoms.

Add the flowers to a bowl or quart jar.

Add 4 cups of boiling water to the jar.

Let the tea steep for 30 minutes to 4 hours. When ready, pour the tea into a glass and add ice. The white clover tea makes a wonderful refreshing iced tea with a delicate flavor.
