This easy apple butter instant pot recipe with no peeling is the simplest recipe for making delicious apple butter.
Apple season is so much fun and there is so many things to do with apples! Apple picking at a local apple orchard is a great fall activity. I have my own apple trees so even better!
My apple trees were loaded this year, so I wanted to make a lot of apple butter. Peeling is so time consuming, so this recipe is great.
This apple butter can be made with different types of apples including honeycrisp apples, granny smith apples, or gala. The types of apples on my trees are Jonathon, red delicious and golden delicious. I use all the different types of apples in my apple butter and other recipes.

Ingredients for Instant Pot Apple Butter
- Approximately 30 Apples
- 2 Tablespoons Vanilla
- 2 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 Cup White Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
- Note: The sugar can be adjusted to taste and can be omitted if preferred to be sugar free.
Steps for Preparing Instant Pot Apple Butter
First rinse the fresh apples.

Slice the apples.

Fill the instant pot electric pressure cooker with the sliced apples. As the title says, I do not peel the apples and it turns out great! Plus the apple peels add nutrients.

Add the cinnamon, vanilla extract and the sugars.

Stir up the apples and the ingredients.

Cook in the instant pot for 20 minutes and then natural release for 20 minutes.

Stir up the cooked apple mixture and then use an immersion blender or hand mixer. A regular blender could also be used. The immersion blender works very well and makes the apple butter very smooth as pictured below. The apple butter turns out a beautiful dark brown color.

My method is to make one batch in my 8 quart instant pot and then put that in the refrigerator. The next day, I make another batch and after mixing, I stir in the batch made the previous day and heat on saute function in the instant pot. Then I can the apple butter.
Steps for Canning the Apple Butter
Ladle the apple butter into canning jars leaving 1/4-inch head space. I use both half pint and pint jars.

Wipe the rims of the jars, remove the air bubbles and add the lids.
Add the filled jars to the boiling water bath and process jars at a full rolling boil for 20 minutes.
I use the Ball electric water bath canner for water bath canning and love it.

Remove the hot canning mason jars from the boiling water canner after the processing time with a jar lifter and place the sealed jars on a kitchen towel on the counter. Do not disturb for 24 hours.

Enjoy!
Enjoy this delicious instant pot apple butter recipe! It is an easy recipe and is so good on toast, bagels, biscuits, everything! I love it just out of the jar, like homemade applesauce. It can make a great side dish also, without having to be spread. The delicious homemade apple butter has great flavor!
